Common themes represented here:
Male bonding over misogyny. The boy at the table and the blanket character are both male. The male blanket sexually humiliates the girl children and the boy watches; this creates an us/them dynamic where males reassure themselves that they are not members of the rape class.
Normalize abuse/neglect. The blanket is supposed to represent security but it is woefully inadequate and provides no security; in actuality, he is the source of these girls’ suffering and deliberately sexually humiliates them.
Pornify girl children/infantilize adult women. Young girls are having inappropriate sexually-charged relationships with older male characters, and are keeping secrets about it.
